Jammu and Kashmir Directorate of School Education has formally declared a 10-day summer break within Kashmir division – between July 1 and July 10, 2025 – that seeks to protect students against a growing heatwave. It is a line of demarcation, indicating that the welfare of students will be achieved higher than the academic calendar.
Vacation Duration: All government and recognized private schools across Kashmir division will be closed July 1–10 to protect young learners from soaring temperatures.
Adjusted Class Timings: From Saturday onward, schools inside Srinagar municipal limits will operate 8 AM–1 PM, while those outside will run 8:30 AM–1:30 PM, ensuring students aren’t exposed to peak heat.
Flexibility for Extension: Authorities, led by Education Minister Sakina Itoo, will review weather trends post-holiday and may extend the break if the heat persists.
